Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, is expanding its chatbot, Grok. It is launching a standalone iOS app, which was only for X (formerly Twitter) users. The app is now in beta testing in Australia and a few other countries. It offers real-time web and X data access, text rewriting, long paragraph summarization, Q&A, and text-to-image generation.

The app promotes Grok as an AI assistant. It should provide truthful, useful, and curious interactions. Users can ask questions, generate realistic images, and analyze uploaded photos. xAI is also working to make Grok available on the web at Grok.com. The site now shows a “coming soon” message for xAI account users.

Initially limited to paying subscribers on X, Grok began offering a free version in November and extended it to all users earlier this month. XAI claims the chatbot’s image generation excels at photorealism. It has few restrictions on creating images, even of public figures and copyrighted works.
